Oh Sehoon: "Presidential Investigation Should Proceed Without CIO Involvement and Without Detention"
"CIO Divides Public Opinion with Controversies over Illegal Acts"
On January 15, Seoul Mayor Oh Sehoon asserted that the investigation into President Yoon Suk Yeol on charges of insurrection should proceed without detention, except for the involvement of the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO).
On this day, Mayor Oh posted a message on Facebook titled "Presidential Investigation, It Must Now Follow Due Process," making these remarks. His statement came after the CIO executed an arrest warrant for President Yoon earlier that morning.

The investigation into the president should be conducted without the CIO’s involvement and without detention."
As grounds for his argument, he cited the lack of flight risk for the president and the excessive nature of the arrest. Mayor Oh said, "There is no concern about the president fleeing, and the authorities have already secured most of the individuals involved," adding, "Even the Presidential Security Service did not block the entry of the arrest team today. There is absolutely no reason to secure custody in such an excessive manner, except for the sake of public humiliation."

He then mentioned the pressure from the Democratic Party of Korea as the background for what he called an "excessive investigation." Mayor Oh stated, "Even now, investigative agencies must not be swayed by pressure from the Democratic Party and should follow due process."
