National Assembly Library Auditorium on the 16th...
"Easing the Childcare Burden"
Jeon Jinsook, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Buk-gu, Gwangju), announced on the 15th that she will hold a policy forum titled "Problems and Improvement Tasks of the Yoon Sukyeol Administration's Early Childhood Education and Care Integration Policy" at 2:00 p.m. on the 16th in the National Assembly Library auditorium.
The forum will review the current status of the Yoon Sukyeol administration's efforts to integrate early childhood education and care, and discuss ways to improve the policy. Critics have pointed out that the government's integration policy has been pushed forward unilaterally without sufficient preparation or social consensus, causing confusion in childcare and education settings as well as among families with young children. As a result, it is now necessary to gather opinions from parents, teachers, and experts to further develop policies that support future generations of young children.
The keynote presentation will be delivered by Dr. Park Changhyun of the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education, addressing "Problems and Improvement Tasks of the Yoon Sukyeol Administration's Early Childhood Education and Care Integration Policy: Focusing on the Childcare Sector." The subsequent discussion will feature Dr. Lee Jinbok of the Institute for Democracy, Kwon Il, Policy Director of the Korea Childcare Center Association, officials from the Ministry of Education's Early Childhood Support Office, and Kim Seulgi, a parent of a young child, who will discuss institutional improvement measures.
Representative Jeon stated, "The government's integration policy is a representative failed policy that has brought about confusion in the field by pushing for departmental unification and legal groundwork without any detailed content." She added, "We will actively review the policies proposed at this forum to protect the healthy lives of young children and to ease the childcare burden on parents."
