Selected companies can receive customized support programs, including assistance for the creation, utilization, and protection of intellectual property, with up to 70 million KRW per year and a maximum of 210 million KRW over three years.
In particular, support is provided for overseas applications of patents, trademarks, and designs?which are key factors for SMEs' global expansion?as well as office automation (OA) and registration fees.
Main support areas include: ▲Support for securing overseas intellectual property rights ▲Patent technology utilization strategies (patent maps) ▲Production of promotional videos for patented technologies ▲Patent & design convergence development ▲Design utilization strategies (design maps) ▲Brand development (new, renewal, non-English-speaking markets) ▲Design development (product, packaging, mock-up) ▲Intellectual property management consulting, and more.
Last year, Yeosu Araeum Co., Ltd., a star company specializing in the manufacturing and export of fried foods and seasoned dried fish products, expanded its export volume by exporting new products to existing export countries through support such as patent mapping, packaging design development, and overseas rights acquisition. The company successfully secured overseas trademark rights for its brand in each export country, achieving notable results such as discovering new clients in Taiwan, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Australia, and France.
Shim Sangwan, Director of the Research and Bioindustry Division of Jeollanam-do, said, "We will actively support local SMEs so that they can overcome difficult times at home and abroad based on intellectual property and grow into strong regional companies through this project."
Starting with the announcement of the 2025 Global Intellectual Property Star Company Fostering Support Project, Jeollanam-do plans to sequentially announce recruitment for customized support projects throughout the business lifecycle, such as emergency intellectual property support for SMEs, IP Narae, IP Didimdol, and intellectual property capacity building support for small business owners.
