Cold Wave Warnings to Be Lifted or Eased in Some Regions
After the strongest cold wave of this winter, temperatures will gradually rise over the weekend, easing the cold.

View original imageAccording to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 11th, the minimum temperature on Sunday the 12th morning is forecast to be between -17 and -2 degrees Celsius, and the maximum temperature during the day between -1 and 7 degrees Celsius. Compared to the strongest cold wave recorded on the 10th of this winter (morning -20.6 to -6.7, daytime -6.1 to 3.9), the cold will somewhat ease.
Cold wave warnings issued for northern and eastern Gyeonggi, inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, northern Chungbuk, and inland northern and northeastern mountainous areas of Gyeongbuk are expected to be lifted or eased in some regions as temperatures gradually rise.
Clouds will be widespread nationwide on this day but will gradually clear from the afternoon. However, Gangwon Province, Jeolla region, the eastern coast of Gyeongbuk, and Jeju Island will remain mostly cloudy. Rain or snow is expected in Chungnam and the western coast of Jeolla until the morning, and in the mountainous areas of Gangwon and the northern eastern coast of Gyeongbuk during the afternoon and night.
Snowflakes or raindrops will fall until the morning in the southern Gyeonggi western coast, central and southern Chungbuk, other parts of Chungnam, and the western Jeolla region. On the eastern coast of Gangwon, snow or rain is expected between late afternoon and evening.
Expected snowfall amounts on the 11th and 12th are 20 cm for Ulleungdo and Dokdo, 3 to 8 cm for the mountainous areas of Jeju Island, 1 to 5 cm for the mid-mountain areas of Jeju Island, the western coast of Jeolla, the western coast of Chungnam, and the five western islands in the Yellow Sea, around 1 cm for inland Chungnam and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and less than 1 cm for the northern eastern coast of Gyeongbuk.

Some areas in the sea off Chungnam and Jeolla in the Yellow Sea islands may accumulate more than 5 cm of snow, so special caution is required to prevent damage. Fine dust levels are expected to be 'moderate' across all regions due to smooth atmospheric dispersion.
