Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute Obtains Certification as an Excellent Analytical Institution in the 2024 International Proficiency Testing
Top Grade in All Environmental Categories
International Recognition for Analytical Capability
The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute received the highest grade in all environmental categories in the international evaluation conducted last year by the U.S. international proficiency testing organization (ERA), and was certified as a Laboratory of Excellence.
The international proficiency evaluation is conducted annually for analytical institutions worldwide to improve analytical capabilities and ensure reliability, and is carried out by international proficiency testing organizations that comply with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO/IEC) regulations.
This evaluation consisted of four fields: drinking water, water quality, soil, and environmental hazardous factors.
As a result of the evaluation, the institute achieved the highest grade, "Satisfactory," in all 57 items, including 22 items such as total nitrogen in the ion group of the water quality field, 17 items such as fluoride, a health-hazardous inorganic substance in the drinking water field, 12 items such as heavy metals and volatile organic compounds in the soil field, and 6 items such as heavy metals in the environmental hazardous factors field.

Shim Min-ryeong, director of the Health and Environment Research Institute, said, "We received the highest grade in all categories in this evaluation, internationally certifying our measurement and analysis capabilities," and added, "We will continue to do our best as an internationally trusted analytical institution by providing rapid and accurate environmental analysis results to citizens."
