View original imageYeonggwang County, South Jeolla Province (County Governor Jang Seil), announced on the 9th that it will make every effort to strengthen the promotion of the pet registration system in order to enhance animal registration among residents.
According to the Animal Protection Act, dogs over two months old that are kept in residential or semi-residential buildings or for companionship purposes must be registered. Even if registration has already been completed, any changes in the owner, the owner's address or phone number, or the animal's status (lost, found, or deceased) must be reported.
Animal registration can be applied for by visiting an 'animal registration agency' designated by Yeonggwang County Office. Changes can be reported online through 'Government24' or the 'National Animal Protection Information System.'
To promote animal registration, Yeonggwang County also supports 'internal' animal registration, which involves inserting a wireless electronic identification device (microchip) into the animal's body. Internal animal registration is less prone to damage and is the fastest and most accurate way to find a lost animal. Yeonggwang County residents can register for free.
