Gyeonggi-do to Provide Additional 17.5 Billion KRW for Snow Damage Recovery to Farms Ahead of Lunar New Year
Gyeonggi Province is stepping up support for the agriculture and livestock sectors by providing an additional 17.5 billion KRW in contingency funds for the restoration of farms damaged by heavy snowfall ahead of the Lunar New Year, as well as promoting a discount coupon program for agricultural and marine products.
On the 9th, Gyeonggi Province held an "On-site Meeting for the Agriculture and Livestock Sectors" chaired by Park Jong-min, Director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau, at the Anseong Agricultural Technology Center Life Science Hall. The meeting was held to listen to the difficulties faced by the agriculture and livestock sectors due to heavy snowfall damage and to discuss practical support measures. This meeting was arranged as a follow-up to the "Gyeonggi Emergency Livelihood Economy Meeting" held on the 12th of last month.
About 50 participants attended the meeting, including representatives from 12 agricultural and livestock farms in the province, the Gyeonggi Province Farmers' Association Council, the NongHyup (National Agricultural Cooperative Federation), and officials from city and county governments.
Key attendees such as the Anseong City Flower Research Association, Pyeongtaek City Flower Research Association, Gyeonggi Branch of the Dairy and Beef Cattle Association, and the Gyeonggi Province Council of the Korean Pork Producers Association conveyed various on-site difficulties, including facility damage restoration, expansion of demolition cost surcharge rates, and the expansion of livestock facility modernization projects. They also requested the actualization of disaster relief funds, plans for additional support, and an increase in support rates for the agricultural sector.

View original imageIn response, Gyeonggi Province decided to expand financial support for emergency restoration of heavy snowfall damage and will provide 17.5 billion KRW in contingency funds to support urgent restoration such as the demolition of agricultural facilities before the Lunar New Year.
As policies to stabilize farm management and revitalize the livelihood economy, Gyeonggi Province will promote ▲early implementation of the agricultural and marine products discount coupon support project in January ▲interest reduction on loans from the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural and Rural Development Fund and new loans in 2025 ▲support for installing solar power systems on livestock farms to generate non-agricultural income.
Park Jong-min, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Agriculture, Fisheries and Life Sciences Bureau, stated, "To restore the livelihood economy, we will prepare practical support measures based on the principles of 'field-centered,' 'rapid response,' and 'bold action.' We will provide thorough support from demolition, installation, stocking, to sales for farmers who suffered significant damage from the heavy snowfall, and we will continue to work together until they can stand up again."
