Hong Joon-pyo, the mayor of Daegu, recently indicated a strong response to Daegu Participation Solidarity's consecutive lawsuits and accusations against him for violations of the Political Funds Act and charges of inciting rebellion.
On the 9th, Mayor Hong wrote on his Facebook, "We call Daegu Participation Solidarity the 'False Accusation Solidarity,'" criticizing them by saying, "They always file lawsuits or accusations against the mayor based on absurd falsehoods." He added, "They have filed another accusation this time," and "They will be counter-sued for false accusations again." Furthermore, he asserted, "The False Accusation Solidarity, which hides behind the guise of a civic group to repeatedly engage in slanderous lawsuits and accusations, must be punished with exemplary punishment."
Earlier, on the 7th, Daegu Participation Solidarity announced at the front of the Sangeok Office of Daegu City Hall that they would file charges against Mayor Hong Joon-pyo for violations of the Political Funds Act and incitement to rebellion. The group stated, "We are filing charges against Mayor Hong and his close associates for violations of the Political Funds Act and also charging Hong Joon-pyo with incitement to rebellion." They claimed, "The day after the martial law announcement, Mayor Hong defended the rebellion as a 'happening,' and dismissed the rebellion charge frame as 'a conspiratorial tactic by Representative Lee Jae-myung,' thereby obstructing the resolution of the rebellion incident."

Additionally, the group explained the reasons for the charges, saying, "During the local elections held on June 1, 2022, Mayor Hong, as a preliminary candidate for the People Power Party’s Daegu mayoral race, requested illegal opinion polls from Myung Tae-kyun, who conducted at least eight undisclosed opinion polls." In this process, Participation Solidarity claimed, "Choi, a close associate of Mayor Hong, handed over the personal information of about 44,000 responsible members of the People Power Party in the Daegu region to Myung Tae-kyun," and "Myung provided voter-specific response results to Hong Joon-pyo’s side, violating the Personal Information Protection Act." Mayor Hong has strongly denied any involvement with Myung.
