Thanks to these efforts, in September last year, GS Retail was selected as an ‘Excellent Company for Work-Family Balance’ by operating diverse childbirth encouragement and multi-child support systems.
Key childbirth encouragement policies for employees include ▲encouragement of parental leave ▲childbirth congratulatory support ▲childcare and tuition support ▲operation of in-house daycare centers ▲medical expense support related to childbirth ▲infertility leave provision, among others.
GS Retail operates the ‘Child Love Leave System,’ which provides an additional one-year leave per child beyond the statutory parental leave. In particular, the company actively encourages male employees to take parental leave.
Financial support is also provided for education according to the child’s life cycle. For each child, childcare expenses are provided from ages 0 to 4, and kindergarten childcare expenses are provided for ages 5 to 6. Additionally, tuition fees are supported from high school through university.
The company also runs a multi-child birth support fund to encourage childbirth among employees. For the first child, childbirth supplies or gift certificates worth approximately 100,000 KRW are provided; for the second child, 2 million KRW; for the third child, 3 million KRW; and for the fourth child or more, 5 million KRW are given. Medical and examination expenses related to childbirth are supported up to 50%, and infertility treatment leave is also provided, among various childbirth encouragement policies.
For franchise business owners, a multi-child mutual support system is also in place. Prospective business owners with two or more children under the age of 18 receive a 2 million KRW discount benefit when starting a new business. Additionally, childbirth supplies are provided when a franchise owner or their spouse gives birth.
