Yangsan City in Gyeongnam is actively promoting the 'External Restaurant Usage Day' to contribute to revitalizing the local economy, which has been depressed due to the economic downturn, by sharing the pain of self-employed business owners facing difficulties.

View original imageYangsan City resumed the 'External Restaurant Usage Day,' which was suspended after the COVID-19 outbreak in 2021, starting from January 8. Every Wednesday, each department will take turns using local restaurants instead of the in-house cafeteria.
The city plans to actively utilize a prepayment system where employees pay in advance and revisit the restaurants, along with voluntary participation from the staff.

Mayor Na Dong-yeon said, "We expect that the participation of employees through the resumption of 'External Restaurant Usage Day' will bring some warmth to the frozen local economy," and added, "Although there may be economic burdens and inconvenience in commuting, we ask for active participation from employees in using external restaurants for the stabilization of livelihoods and revitalization of the local economy."
