In addition, holiday consolation money will be newly introduced for veterans' honor allowance recipients, providing 20,000 KRW per person twice a year during Lunar New Year and Chuseok.
Individual notices for allowance application will be sent to eligible recipients, and applicants will receive the veterans' honor allowance from the month of application. National veterans who have not yet applied for the allowance can visit their local community service center with their veteran ID and bankbook copy or apply online through ‘Government 24’. The holiday consolation money will be paid to the existing veterans' allowance account without a separate application process.
Furthermore, the district has installed ‘Priority Parking Spaces for National Veterans, etc.’ at 12 public parking lots with more than 100 spaces to enhance mobility convenience for veterans and their families. It is also making multifaceted efforts to promote the honor and pride of national veterans and improve their welfare by expanding support for veterans' organizations.
Notably, last year, the ‘Ordinance on the Respect and Support for National Veterans in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul’ was amended, and the scope of veterans' honor allowance recipients was expanded to include all individuals covered by the ‘Act on Honorable Treatment and Support of Persons, etc. of Distinguished Services to the State,’ thereby extending benefits to April 19 Revolution veterans, line-of-duty deceased public officials, injured public officials, and special merit line-of-duty deceased persons.
