Dongducheon Sangpae District to Launch 'Living Condition Improvement Project' Starting January
Gyeonggi Province will begin full-scale implementation of the project in January for the 'Sangpae District in Dongducheon City,' which was selected in this year's Urban Vulnerable Area Living Environment Improvement Project contest.
The Urban Vulnerable Area Living Environment Improvement Project has been underway since 2015 to secure a safe residential environment in urban areas with poor living conditions by promoting housing renovation, expansion of living infrastructure, and strengthening residents' capabilities.
The Sangpae District in Dongducheon City has been experiencing severe slumification due to rapid decline following the withdrawal of the U.S. military base and continuous population outflow. This project aims to improve the residential environment and revitalize the area.
The project will cover an area of 40,100 square meters around Sangpaero in Dongducheon City. The main initiatives include ▲creating a ‘Sturdy and Safe Shelter’ where residents can stay safely ▲organizing shared spaces for local residents ▲providing home repair support to enhance basic safety and living convenience of houses.
