Guri-si, Inchang Library Observatory Opens on the 13th
Opening the World of Astronomy Closer to Citizens
Guri City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun) announced on the 6th that it will hold the opening ceremony of the Inchang Library Observatory on the 13th.
The opening ceremony will be held with the attendance of key guests including Mayor Baek Kyung-hyun of Guri City, related field experts, and citizens. The Inchang Library Observatory is expected to become a hub for the dissemination and popularization of astronomical science for citizens, marking an important starting point for new challenges toward space and stars.
The Inchang Library Observatory, equipped with a 250mm refracting telescope and a solar telescope inside a 6m diameter dome observation room, as well as two portable refracting telescopes, is one of the campaign projects of the 8th local government administration. It is optimized for celestial observation in the urban area and will operate various observation programs to provide citizens with opportunities to experience astronomical science up close and easily explore the mysteries of the universe.
In addition to general observation programs, Guri City plans to operate various programs such as vacation programs, field trips linked with various educational institutions in the area, and special observation programs during various astronomical phenomena.
