Park Jieon: "Choi Sangmok Appoints Two Constitutional Court Justices... Opens the Way for Yoon's Impeachment Review"

Park Jie-won, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Haenam, Wando, and Jindo), assessed that the appointment of Choi Sang-mok, Acting President and concurrently Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, as a Constitutional Court justice has marked a significant turning point in the impeachment proceedings against President Yoon Suk-yeol.

On the 5th, Park stated on his Facebook, "It is noteworthy that Acting President Choi Sang-mok appointed two Constitutional Court justices, as this has opened the floodgates for the impeachment trial of Yoon Suk-yeol."

Park strongly criticized, "Yoon Suk-yeol's side believes that the Constitutional Court will dismiss the case by a 5-to-3 decision, so they are being misled by the words of fraudulent fortune-tellers who say 'luck will turn around after this year, after the Lunar New Year,' and are continuing their stalling tactics," adding, "Insane madmen are playing a symphony together."

He further argued, "National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik has filed a competence dispute with the Constitutional Court regarding the appointment of Ma Eun-hyuk, a justice nominee not appointed by Acting President Choi Sang-mok," and insisted, "Since the Constitutional Court has requested a full bench of nine justices, it is only natural for the Speaker's request to be granted."

Park emphasized that the people he met in his constituency of Haenam, Wando, and Jindo are extremely angry. He also claimed that officials related to the country's security service are experiencing internal confusion.

He continued, "The arrest of Yoon Suk-yeol and a prompt trial by a full bench of nine justices is the way to stabilize a country in chaos, and Acting President Choi Sang-mok is at the center of this," stressing, "The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials and the police should proceed with the arrest, and Acting President Choi Sang-mok should order the security service, military, and police to cooperate in the arrest. This is the path for the acting president to save the country," emphasizing Choi's active role.
