At 3:28 PM on the 3rd, an earthquake with a magnitude of 2.9 occurred 14 km south of Geochang-gun, Gyeongnam (depth of occurrence 8 km), prompting the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters to be activated.
Ko Ki-dong, Acting Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, activated the Emergency Level 1 of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters at 3:40 PM for rapid damage assessment and emergency measures if necessary, and issued an earthquake crisis alert at the "Warning" level. The earthquake crisis alert levels are issued in the order of Interest - Caution - Warning - Serious.
