Lee Jungseon, Superintendent of Gwangju Metropolitan Office of Education, visited the 'Jeju Air Passenger Plane Disaster Joint Memorial Altar' set up at the city education office on the 31st to express his deep condolences.
The city education office installed the joint memorial altar at Sium Square on the 30th to commemorate the 179 victims, including four students from Gwangju, who lost their lives in this tragedy.

View original imageThe joint memorial altar will be open 24 hours a day so that anyone can freely pay their respects and lay flowers for the victims.
The city education office plans to assign staff from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. until January 4, the end of the national mourning period, to assist citizens and others visiting the memorial altar.
Additionally, all year-end and New Year events have been canceled, and each institution and school has been instructed to fly flags at half-mast and wear mourning ribbons.
Superintendent Lee stated, "I extend my deepest condolences and sympathy to those who lost their lives in this sudden accident and to their bereaved families," adding, "Our education office will do its utmost to assist with accident recovery and provide psychological and emotional support."
