Up to 3% Extra Points for Outstanding Interns in Regular Employment Hiring Over the Next 2 Years
2 out of 5 New Regular Employees This Year Are Former Experiential Interns
Busan Port Authority (BPA) held the 2024 second half youth internship completion ceremony on the 30th and will grant additional hiring points for the next two years to five outstanding interns who successfully completed their six-month internship.
BPA actively recruits experiential youth interns every year to provide work experience opportunities to unemployed youth and support the enhancement of their employment capabilities.
Outstanding interns selected after completing the designated work period and evaluation will receive up to a 3% additional score in each stage when applying for regular employment.
Youth interns receive the same training support as BPA regular employees, along with separate educational programs aimed at strengthening youth employment capabilities to enhance their competitiveness in the job market.
In fact, among the five new regular employees hired by BPA this year, two were former experiential youth interns, and BPA internship experience is widely regarded as a formula for increasing employment success rates among young job seekers in the public sector.
This year, BPA selected nine interns through the ‘First Life Internship’ recruitment process, the first of its kind among public institutions, which requires no prior work experience to apply, and has worked to help them use their BPA internship experience as a stepping stone to employment success.
As a result, BPA reported that four out of the nine hired interns succeeded in early employment.
Kang Jun-seok, President of BPA, said, “We will take the lead in revitalizing the frozen youth employment market by actively providing work experience and opportunities to strengthen employment capabilities to young job seekers,” adding, “We will continue to improve the internship program to contribute to creating better youth jobs.”

On the 4th, BPA announced the final successful candidates for the 2025 first half experiential youth internship, with a total of 13 new interns scheduled to be appointed on January 1.
