Alleviating Resident Inconvenience and Ensuring Traffic Safety in Cheongnyong-dong Area During Snowfall
Gwanak-gu (Mayor Park Jun-hee) completed the installation of smart road heating cables along Ssukgogaero 16-gil on the 24th.
The district prioritized installing heating cables on a 220-meter extension of one downhill lane in the section prone to accidents.
After a simple heating cable operation test procedure, the district plans to fully activate the heating cables starting January 2, 2025.
The section of Ssukgogaero 16-gil where the heating cables were installed is a 1-3 lane road with heavy traffic.
It serves as a main commuting route for students of Yeongnak High School and a primary access road for residents of nearby large apartment complexes such as e-Pyeonhansesang Seoul National University Entrance 1st and 2nd complexes and Seoul National University Entrance I-One Apartments.
In particular, Cheongnyongsan Mountain is located to the south of this road, and the downhill direction faces north on a steep slope. This area is a habitual icy zone where Cheongnyongsan blocks sunlight, causing snow to melt slowly and posing a risk to residents during snowfall.
To resolve residents’ inconveniences and create a safer environment, the district requested a special disaster safety grant in the first half of March and secured a national budget of 200 million KRW in August.

We will continue to actively secure external funding to expand the heating cable installation sections and do our best to create a safe walking and traffic environment.”
