"Preventing Impersonation of Safety and Health Education Institutions"... Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency Promotes Damage Prevention Activities
The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency (KOSHA, President An Jong-joo) is launching preventive measures in response to damages caused by impersonation of related educational institutions, exploiting the requirement to conduct worker safety and health education under the Industrial Safety and Health Act.
Worker safety and health education is mandated under Article 29 of the Industrial Safety and Health Act, allowing workplaces to either conduct education for workers internally according to workplace conditions or outsource it to safety and health education institutions registered with the Ministry of Employment and Labor.
The education content covers matters related to workplace hazards and safety and health measures for preventing industrial accidents.
Recently, cases have occurred where the possibility of outsourcing education to these institutions has been exploited by impersonating registered safety and health education institutions to coerce workers into safety and health education while selling insurance and financial products.
Accordingly, KOSHA is taking action to raise awareness in workplaces and prevent related damages.
First, leaflets containing information on impersonation tactics, countermeasures, and methods to verify safety and health education institutions will be distributed to alert workplaces. Additionally, about 140 banners warning against impersonation of educational institutions will be posted in major industrial complexes and densely populated areas nationwide, and related content will be continuously broadcast on 40 industrial safety electronic billboards installed across the country.

A KOSHA education official stated, “Education impersonating outsourced institutions not only degrades the quality of education but can also threaten workers’ safety and health,” and urged, “To prevent impersonation damages, it is necessary to check whether your workplace is a ‘workplace subject to worker safety and health education’ on the KOSHA website and also verify whether the education institution is registered with the Ministry of Employment and Labor as a safety and health education institution.”
