Contributing to Reducing Residents' Transportation Costs and Carbon Emissions
Three out of four users of ‘The Gyeonggi Pass’ reported an increase in their use of public transportation while using The Gyeonggi Pass. This indicates that The Gyeonggi Pass has made a meaningful contribution to reducing carbon emissions.

View original imageGyeonggi Province disclosed the results of a survey conducted from November 1 to 11, targeting 1,226 users of The Gyeonggi Pass, on the 30th.
First, 74% of users (911 people) responded that their frequency of using public transportation ‘increased’ after using The Gyeonggi Pass. Among these 911 users, the average weekly use of public transportation rose from 8.5 times before using The Gyeonggi Pass to 12.8 times after. Notably, 211 users owned private vehicles, and 49% of them reported a decrease in private vehicle usage due to using The Gyeonggi Pass.
The satisfaction with The Gyeonggi Pass policy project was evaluated on a scale from ‘very satisfied’ to ‘very dissatisfied’ for each item and converted into a score out of 100 points.
The overall satisfaction with The Gyeonggi Pass policy project was 88 points, indicating ‘very satisfied.’ By category, satisfaction with the user experience was 87 points, with very high satisfaction for ‘convenience of the refund method’ (90 points), ‘usage frequency criteria’ (89 points), and ‘refund rate satisfaction’ (83 points). Satisfaction with information provision was 79 points, with high satisfaction for ‘adequacy of project promotion’ (80 points), ‘ease of understanding information’ (80 points), and ‘ease of access to information’ (78 points).
Regarding The Gyeonggi Pass performance and support (out of 100 points), the scores were ▲contribution to quality of life improvement 91 points ▲helpfulness to users 91 points ▲contribution to social development 90 points ▲necessity of continued implementation 98 points ▲willingness to recommend to others 96 points ▲change in Gyeonggi Province’s image 86 points. Additional benefits users wished to see included ▲expansion of refund rates for public transportation fares by age group (40%) and ▲full refund for usage beyond 61 times per month (37%).
Nam Sang-eun, Director of the Transportation Bureau, said, “This survey confirmed that The Gyeonggi Pass project has played a significant role in alleviating transportation costs for residents and promoting public transportation use. We plan to expand The Gyeonggi Pass benefits to provide more advantages to residents and continue contributing to carbon emission reduction.”
Meanwhile, starting December 23, Gyeonggi Province launched ‘The Gyeonggi Pass Card,’ which applies The Gyeonggi Pass BI (brand identity) to card designs in collaboration with three card companies: NH Nonghyup Card, KB Kookmin Card, and Shinhan Card. Previously, the K-Pass cards did not feature The Gyeonggi Pass BI, but it was newly added at Gyeonggi Province’s request.
All Gyeonggi residents registered as residents in Gyeonggi Province can obtain a dedicated card from a total of 13 card companies?including NH Nonghyup, KB Kookmin, Shinhan, Woori, Hana, Samsung, Hyundai, BC, IBK Industrial Bank, Gwangju Bank, K-Bank, Enjoyment of Mobility, and DGB U-Pay?and then register as members on the K-Pass website. During membership registration, address verification is conducted, and once confirmed as a Gyeonggi resident, The Gyeonggi Pass benefits are automatically applied.

This survey was commissioned by Gyeonggi Province to the polling agency Korea Research Co., Ltd. and was conducted as a web survey from November 1 to 11 targeting 1,226 refund recipients of The Gyeonggi Pass. The sampling error margin is ±2.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
