View original imageOn the morning of the 29th at 9:03 a.m., Jeollanam-do immediately activated the Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters in response to the aircraft accident at Muan International Airport, providing support for accident recovery activities and assistance to the bereaved families.
Kim Yungrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, visited the accident site, called for prompt support activities, and instructed the operation of the on-site Accident Recovery Countermeasures Headquarters at the provincial level.
Due to the accident, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters was activated, with the Fire Department in charge of on-site rescue and emergency medical services, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport handling the investigation of the cause and future measures, and the Korea Airports Corporation and local governments responsible for supporting the bereaved families.
A waiting room for the bereaved families was set up on the third floor of Muan Airport. Dedicated public officials were assigned to each family unit for management, and temporary accommodations for the bereaved families will be prepared in case the situation is prolonged. A volunteer group for supporting the bereaved families was also urgently organized and put on standby.
A temporary mortuary is currently being operated at Muan Airport, and every effort is being made to secure vacancies at nearby hospitals and funeral halls, including those in Gwangju, to prepare for funeral procedures and medical support for the bereaved families.
The Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters plans to announce information regarding the damage, recovery situation, and cause of the accident through an organic cooperation system with the Fire Department, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, local governments, and the airport corporation.
