Kim Dong-yeon on Muan Airport Crash: "Gyeonggi Province Will Spare No Support"
Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon promised on the 29th that human rescue is the top priority regarding the passenger plane crash at Muan Airport in Jeollanam-do, and that Gyeonggi Province will spare no support.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon emphasized in a post on his social media service (SNS) that day, "A passenger plane crash occurred at Muan Airport," and "Currently, human rescue is the top priority."
He added, "Safety authorities must make every effort to rescue using all available personnel and equipment," and "I extend my condolences to those affected and the bereaved families, and Gyeonggi Province will spare no support."
According to Korea Airports Corporation and Jeonnam Fire Headquarters, at around 9:07 a.m. that day, Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok, Thailand, crashed while attempting to land on the runway at Muan International Airport.
The aircraft collided with the outer wall of the runway, breaking in half and causing a fire. The aircraft model involved in the accident was a B737-800, carrying 175 passengers.

So far, two people have been rescued from the rear of the aircraft, and casualties have been reported.
