After a preference survey among residents and deliberation by the Gapyeong-gun Library Management Committee, one book was selected each in the children’s, youth, and general categories, making a total of three final selections.
In the children’s category, the book Itolok Bulpyeonhan Plastic (So Uncomfortable Plastic) by author Lim Jeong-eun was selected. This environmental education book introduces plastic issues in an easy and engaging way by traveling through five experience centers with Dr. Noplaplalla, encouraging children to think independently about environmental problems in their daily lives.
For the youth category, Biscuit by author Kim Seon-mi was chosen. The story follows the protagonist Jeseong, who has exceptional hearing ability, as he loses the power to protect himself and embarks on a special coming-of-age journey to help the disappeared being called ‘Biscuit.’ The book offers readers a warm emotional experience and an opportunity for self-reflection.
In the general category, Words of Companionship (Kim So-yeon and four others) was selected. This work reveals small but precious values that are easily overlooked in our daily lives through various interactions with companions.
The selected books will be utilized throughout 2025 at Gapyeong-gun Library in connection with various reading culture events. The library plans to provide opportunities for residents to engage deeply with the selected books and enjoy reading through diverse programs such as author meetings, Library Week events, and Reading Month activities.
