A Women-Friendly City refers to a city that operates policies where men and women equally participate in regional policy and development processes, and the benefits are evenly distributed to all citizens while ensuring women's growth and safety. It is designated after evaluation by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family.

This plaque unveiling ceremony was organized to announce the re-designation of the Women-Friendly City both internally and externally and to provide an opportunity to declare the citizens' determination for a new leap forward as a Women-Friendly City. The ceremony was attended by many officials, including Park Sang-su, Mayor of Samcheok, Kwon Jeong-bok, Chairperson of the Samcheok City Council, and members of the Samcheok Women-Friendly City Citizen Participation Group, celebrating the re-designation plaque unveiling.

Samcheok City plans to promote various projects based on five major goals: establishing a foundation for gender equality policy implementation, expanding women's economic and social participation, enhancing community safety, creating a family-friendly environment, and strengthening women's capacity for community activities.

A Samcheok City official stated, “Building on the re-designation as a Women-Friendly City, we will promote various projects based on the five major goals to create a Samcheok where all citizens are happy.”
