GTX Transportation Revolution: Forum on Changes and Challenges to Bring to Paju
Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX)-A Opening Commemoration Press Conference Held
The opening ceremony of the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX)-A line section from Unjeongjungang to Seoul Station, titled ‘GTX Transportation Revolution: Changes and Challenges Brought to Paju,’ was successfully held on the 23rd at the Asia Publishing Culture Information Center Multipurpose Hall in the Paju Publishing Complex.
According to the city on the 24th, the presentation event hosted by Paju City and National Assembly member Yoon Hu-deok was attended by over 150 people, including Paju citizens, Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju, Yoon Hu-deok, National Assembly member, Park Dae-sung, Chairman of the Paju City Council, Oh Jae-hak, former President of the Korea Transport Institute, Yoo Jung-hoon, Senior Vice President of the Korean Society of Transportation, Seo Chung-won, Professor at Kangnam University, Kim Jung-in, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Transport Institute, and Lee Seung-chul, President of the Unjeong New Town Association.
On that day, thematic presentations were given on topics such as ‘Changes Brought by the GTX Transportation Revolution’ by Yoo Jung-hoon, Senior Vice President of the Korean Society of Transportation; ‘GTX Opening and Development Plans for Paju City’ by Seo Chung-won, Professor at Kangnam University; and ‘Plans to Strengthen GTX-Linked Transportation in Paju City’ by Cheon Yoo-kyung, Director of the Paju City Road Traffic Bureau.
Following the thematic presentations, a discussion was held on the role and utilization plans of GTX to leap forward as a self-sufficient city of one million in Paju. The discussion was chaired by Oh Jae-hak, former President of the Korea Transport Institute, with participation from Kim Jung-in, Associate Research Fellow at the Korea Transport Institute, Na Ho-jun, Director of the Urban Development Bureau of Paju City, and Lee Seung-chul, President of the Unjeong New Town Association.

Kim Kyung-il, Mayor of Paju, stated, “With the opening of the Metropolitan Area Second Ring Expressway (Paju to Yangju section) on the 19th and the upcoming opening of the Metropolitan Area Express Railway (GTX)-A line (Unjeongjungang to Seoul Station section) on the 28th, a transportation revolution will begin in Paju by the end of this year, marking a groundbreaking turning point in urban development. Paju City is reorganizing bus routes centered on GTX to strengthen connected transportation and is preparing meticulously for the upcoming railway revolution by forming and operating a dedicated task force (TF) team to establish user-centered transfer centers. We will do our best to enable citizens to use GTX faster, closer, and more conveniently,” he said.
