Husband Sentenced to Prison for Threatening to Retrieve Money and Goods Given by Wife to Her Same-Sex Partner
A husband who learned that his wife had given money and valuables to a woman with whom she was in a same-sex extramarital affair and who confined and threatened the woman to recover the items was sentenced to prison.
On the 23rd, the 11th Criminal Division of the Gwangju District Court (Presiding Judge Go Sang-young) sentenced A (50), who was indicted on charges including special robbery, to four years in prison, according to Yonhap News Agency. The court also sentenced accomplice B (42) to two years and six months in prison with a four-year probation.
A and others were tried on charges of confining the victim, C, in her 40s, in a vehicle in April 2022, threatening her with a weapon, and seizing about 40 million won and a car registration certificate. C was A’s wife’s same-sex lover, and it was investigated that A learned that his wife maintained an inappropriate relationship with C and even gave her money and valuables, and he tried to recover them.
At the time, A and B went to find C, saying, "Our family has been destroyed because of you," confined her in a vehicle, and threatened her to write an IOU. When C hesitated to write the IOU, they threatened her by saying, "The person you see over there is a gangster." B was also instructed to damage C’s car.
A received 40 million won by threatening to inform his parents about the same-sex affair but later discovered that his wife had additionally given C a gold ring and cash, and he demanded and obtained more valuables.
