Pocheon City Submits Petition with Over 340,000 Signatures for GTX-G Line Pocheon Attraction

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 23rd that a petition regarding the attraction of the GTX-G line to Pocheon has been delivered to Gyeonggi Province.

View original imageThe citywide signature campaign to attract the GTX-G line was completed on the 13th. Amid enthusiastic participation from citizens, a total of 345,425 signatures were collected, exceeding the target.
This figure is about 1.7 times the original goal of 200,000 signatures, contributed by the GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee (50,000), Daejin University Foundation (103,000), Pocheon Urban Corporation (8,600), and Pocheon City (184,000).
The petition was handed over to Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province at the Northern Gyeonggi Association regular meeting held at Sono Calm Goyang in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province. Attendees from the GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee included Chairman Lee Min-hyung, advisor Kang Yong-beom, consultant Han Hee-jun, and member Lee Deok-ju. From Pocheon City, Mayor Baek Young-hyun, Pocheon City Council Chairman Lim Jong-hoon, and Gyeonggi Provincial Assembly member Yoon Chung-sik were present.
Pocheon City plans to actively promote internal and external activities such as visits to related agencies including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and resolution rallies together with the GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee to ensure the GTX-G line is reflected in the '5th National Railroad Network Construction Plan.' Through this, the city aims to contribute to regional development and the expansion of transportation infrastructure.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “With the belief that GTX will open a new era of railroads in Pocheon, 140,000 citizens of Pocheon united in one heart to participate. This is the result of the citizens' united will and passion to attract the GTX-G line.” He added, “All of us, including myself and Pocheon city officials, will do our best to attract the GTX-G line in cooperation with the GTX Pocheon Attraction Promotion Committee.”

Meanwhile, the GTX-G line is a metropolitan area wide-area express railway spanning 84.7 km, connecting Songwoo in Soheul-eup, Pocheon, to Dongui-jeongbu, Guri, Nonhyeon, Sadang, Gwangmyeong (KTX), and finally to Sungui in Nam-gu, Incheon. The project is estimated to cost approximately 7.679 trillion KRW. Once completed, travel from Pocheon to Gangnam Nonhyeon Station will take 30 minutes, and to Gwangmyeong Station (KTX) within 43 minutes.
