The scholarship recipients are children of those who died in expressway traffic accidents or in construction and maintenance work, or those who themselves or their children have been diagnosed with severe disabilities due to such accidents. Applications are accepted and selections are made after review by the Scholarship Foundation.
Selected scholars receive annual support ranging from 2 million to 5 million KRW depending on their income level, covering from preschool children to university students. Notably, starting this year, the minimum scholarship amount for middle school students and below has been increased from 1 million KRW to 2 million KRW.
In addition to the scholarship program, the Expressway Corporation operates the "Stand-up" employment support program to help scholars achieve economic independence, and the "Anadream" psychological therapy program to help families of traffic accident victims overcome trauma. The Corporation explained that it is conducting the most extensive linked support projects among SOC (Social Overhead Capital) public enterprises to aid the daily recovery of expressway accident victims.
