Cabbage Production Decreases by 6.3% This Year Due to Weather Deterioration
Due to worsening weather conditions and other factors, the production of autumn cabbage and autumn radish has decreased this year compared to last year.
According to the "Autumn Cabbage, Radish, Soybean, Apple, and Pear Production Survey Results" released by Statistics Korea on the 23rd, the production of autumn cabbage this year was 1.164 million tons (t), down 78,000 t (6.3%) from last year. This decline is attributed to a reduction in cultivation area and frequent rainfall during the growing season caused by adverse weather conditions.

The cultivation area was 13,076 hectares (ha), a decrease of 76 ha (0.6%). For autumn radish, production (384,000 t) decreased by 102,000 t (21.0%) due to poor weather during the sowing period and frequent rainfall during the growing season. The cultivation area was 5,308 ha, down 899 ha (14.5%).
