The Democratic Party announced the list of members for the special committee (special committee) necessary to initiate the "National Investigation into the Truth of the Treason Act through the Unconstitutional and Invalid Emergency Martial Law Declaration by the Yoon Seok-yeol Government (Treason National Investigation)" on the 20th. Earlier, Speaker Woo Won-shik announced that the People Power Party and the Democratic Party must submit their opinions on the special committee list and investigation period by 6 p.m. on the same day.
Through the notice on the day, the Democratic Party stated that it had submitted the list of 11 members out of the 20 special committee members allocated to the Democratic Party to the Speaker's office. The special committee chairman was appointed as Ahn Gyu-baek, a five-term member of the National Defense Committee, and the opposition party secretary was Han Byung-do, a three-term member of the National Administration and Security Committee. In addition, nine others were appointed, including Chu Mi-ae (six terms), Min Hong-chul (four terms), Kim Gyo-heung (three terms), Baek Hye-ryun (three terms), Kim Byung-joo (two terms), Min Byung-duk (two terms), Yoon Gun-young (two terms), Kim Seung-won (two terms), and Park Seon-won (first term).

Kwon Seong-dong, acting leader and floor leader of the People Power Party, briefly told reporters in the afternoon, "There seems to be a delay due to differences of opinion." As discussions within the People Power Party have been prolonged, the possibility of missing the deadline proposed by Speaker Woo has increased. Accordingly, Speaker Woo's side may extend the deadline to encourage participation from the People Power Party, or may form the special committee solely with the opposition party and draft the national investigation plan.
