64 Billion Won in Government Funding Transforms Okjugol Community Center
Jindo County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Heesu) announced on the 19th that it received the Excellence Award in the “Completed Project Sites” category for the “Jindo-eup Urban Regeneration Recognition Project” at the “2024 Urban Regeneration Comprehensive Performance Evaluation Competition” hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
This nationwide competition is designed to promote regions that have achieved outstanding results through urban regeneration projects and to encourage continuous management and operation of completed projects. The evaluation is divided into two categories: completed project sites and operation management. This year, 48 projects completed in 2023 participated, and awards were given to 10 regions that demonstrated excellent performance.

An official from the county said, “We are very pleased to have received the Excellence Award in the comprehensive performance evaluation. We will do our best to become a model case of urban regeneration by linking with the ongoing Urban Regeneration New Deal Project and consistently managing our achievements.”
This award for Jindo County is especially significant as the urban regeneration project has contributed to improving the quality of life for local residents at a time when the vitality of the region is declining due to the aging of the old downtown and population decrease.
Meanwhile, Jindo County has received 46 awards, including the Dasan Mokmin Grand Prize in 2024 and other evaluations by central government ministries, and has achieved the largest-ever county government performance by securing over 100 billion KRW in project funding for two consecutive years.
