Gwangju Seo-gu Confirms Next Year's Main Budget of 675.9 Billion Won
Focus on Stabilizing Livelihoods and Expanding Social Welfare
Seo-gu, Gwangju City (Mayor Kim I-gang) finalized the next year's main budget at 675.9 billion KRW on the 19th after deliberation by the Seo-gu Council.
The next year's budget slightly increased compared to this year's main budget. The general account rose by 1.3 billion KRW (0.21%) to 653.8 billion KRW, while the special account decreased by 0.5 billion KRW (2.24%) to 22.1 billion KRW.
Seo-gu allocated the budget focusing on realizing village autonomy created directly by residents, creating economically vibrant neighborhoods, implementing demand-tailored welfare cities, building an ecological city where children are happy, establishing a safe city for secure living, and fostering an educational and cultural city that enriches life.
For this, the budget includes 1.8 billion KRW for supporting and nurturing small business owners such as local love gift certificates to recover the regional economy, and 1.9 billion KRW for projects creating local jobs and building employment infrastructure.
To strengthen the welfare safety net, Seo-gu allocated 82.8 billion KRW for basic pensions, 71.7 billion KRW for livelihood benefits, and 27.4 billion KRW for senior job projects. To enhance urban competitiveness, smart city projects combining technology and residents' lives were also included, such as 900 million KRW for smart senior centers and 400 million KRW for installing smart intersections.
Additionally, 800 million KRW was reflected for village agenda projects proposed by residents, further strengthening resident-participatory administration.
