Expansion of Alley-type Shopping Districts to 31 Locations
On the 19th, Buk-gu District of Gwangju City announced that its support policies for small business owners, who are struggling due to the economic crisis, have yielded positive results.
This year, the district was recognized for its efforts and excellence in policies supporting small businesses, winning two Ministerial Awards, securing 1.2 billion KRW in special grants through the selection of the Smart Village Project, and expanding the number of alley-type shopping districts to 31.
First, in September, the district was selected as an 'Outstanding Support Organization' and received a Ministerial Award at the Korea Small Business Owners Conference hosted by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, in recognition of its commitment to revitalizing small businesses.
Additionally, in the evaluation of the Excellent Regional Financial Cooperation Model Discovery and Support Project organized by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the district achieved first place among all local governments nationwide by collaborating with local financial institutions to implement inclusive financial support policies for small business owners. As a result, it was recognized as an excellent local government in regional financial cooperation, receiving a Ministerial Award and securing 200 million KRW in special grants.
As a representative achievement in public contest projects, the district secured 1 billion KRW in special grants through the Smart Village Project organized by the Ministry of Science and ICT, which will be used to establish a support center for small business owners and build an online shopping mall for them.
Furthermore, the district created a 3.2 billion KRW Mutual Growth Fund for the recovery of the local economy. It also designated 31 alley-type shopping districts, laying the foundation for economic consumption by residents through Onnuri gift certificates and revitalizing stagnant local commercial areas.
District Mayor Moon In stated, "As the local economic conditions remain challenging, we will continue to prioritize support for small business owners as a key district policy and actively work to resolve their difficulties."
