Buk-gu, Gwangju Selected as an Excellent Institution for Gender Equality Policy
On the 19th, Buk-gu District of Gwangju announced that it has been selected as an "Outstanding Institution" in this year's Gender Equality Policy Awards.
The Gender Equality Policy Awards were established to discover and promote exemplary gender equality policies implemented by local governments and local council members.
The district received high marks for the systematic nature of its mid- to long-term gender equality plans, the thoroughness of its gender impact assessments, its proactive establishment of gender-sensitive statistics, and its public-private network cooperation as a women-friendly city, as well as for efficiently implementing gender equality policies.
In addition, initiatives such as "Establishment of Village Enterprises Based on Women-Friendly Villages and Job Creation for Women," "Development of Alleyway Business District Brands and Revitalization Projects Centered on Female Merchants and Residents," and "Employment Support Programs for Women with Career Interruptions Operated Through the Women's Happiness Support Center" were also highly praised as outstanding policies.
District Mayor Moon In said, "Our district has actively implemented gender equality policies that residents can truly experience, based on public-private cooperation to create a women-friendly city," and added, "We will continue to develop various policies so that a culture of gender equality can take root in the daily lives of local residents."
