National Governors Hold Extraordinary General Meeting to Discuss Measures for Public Livelihood Stability

View original imageThe Council of Governors of Provinces and Metropolitan Cities of the Republic of Korea announced on the afternoon of the 17th that it held the 60th extraordinary general meeting in Seoul to discuss measures for public welfare.
At the general meeting chaired by Park Hyung-jun, Mayor of Busan and chairman of the council, an urgent agenda item titled "Measures for Stabilizing Public Welfare and Revitalizing the Regional Economy" was presented in response to recent political turmoil. The council then discussed ways to strengthen cooperation among provinces and metropolitan cities and adopted a joint statement based on these discussions.
The governors agreed on the necessity of wisely overcoming the current situation and discussing practical and effective measures, pledging to do their best so that residents of provinces and metropolitan cities can feel stability and focus on their livelihoods.
The Council of Governors decided to establish three standing committees within the council from 2025 to discover local issues and enhance the substance of agenda items.
Subsequently, Yoo Jeong-bok, Mayor of Incheon, was appointed as the 18th chairman of the Council of Governors, with a term starting from January 1, 2025, for one year.
