Signed Business Agreement with Bioindustry-related Organizations and Companies
Communication Meeting to Listen to Corporate Difficulties and Discuss Support Plans
On the 17th, Pohang City held a business agreement and communication meeting for fostering the bioindustry at the city hall's main conference room.

View original imageThe business agreement was conducted with the attendance of Mayor Lee Kang-deok, Lee Seung-gyu, Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea Bio Association, Kim Sung-young, Chairman of the Pohang Bioindustry Association, Bae Young-ho, Director of Pohang Technopark, Yoo Ju-yeon, Director of POSTECH Bio Future Technology Innovation Research Center, and Baek Jae-hyun, Director of Handong University Life Science Research Institute.
In this agreement, the city and organizations including the Korea Bio Association, Pohang Bioindustry Association, Pohang Technopark, POSTECH, and Handong University agreed to strengthen mutual cooperation for the development of the bioindustry and to collaborate on business development and technology commercialization support related to the bioindustry.
The Korea Bio Association, which participated in the agreement, is the largest bio association in Korea with 640 domestic member companies and was established to support the development and innovation of Korea's bioindustry.
Also, the Pohang Bioindustry Association, founded last November, was established to create a symbiotic ecosystem for Pohang's bioindustry through voluntary networking among companies, starting with the Pohang bio-healthcare company exchange meeting.
Following the business agreement, Lee Seung-gyu, Executive Vice Chairman of the Korea Bio Association, gave a special lecture titled "From Science to Industry, Transition from Science and Technology to Business."
In the lecture, strategies and directions for bio companies were presented, and startup companies shared their entrepreneurial ideas and practical commercialization processes, eliciting deep empathy from the attendees.
After the lecture, a communication meeting was held where Mayor Lee Kang-deok listened to the on-site difficulties and improvement measures of local bio companies.
Kim Tae-yeon, Director of A&Poly, inquired about various tax benefits for company operations and requested the establishment of pro-business policies at the Pohang city level, while Kim Jae-yoon, CEO of BioN, suggested implementing youth employment-friendly policies to actively attract the working population to Pohang.
Go Seok-min, Head of JinCell Biotech, requested active support from Pohang City regarding bio manpower training and expansion plans, among various opinions expressed.

I hope that this agreement ceremony and meeting will serve as an opportunity to strengthen cooperation between companies and institutions and promote sustainable growth of the bioindustry."
