Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) successfully addressed local issues in four Happy Villages in Busan through this year's 'Happy Village Living Lab' project, contributing to the revitalization of sustainable local communities.
The Happy Village Living Lab is a community-led urban regeneration project where Busan Metropolitan Corporation, residents, administration, and experts collaborate to solve local challenges.
The living lab is a community-based cooperative model that experimentally approaches and resolves everyday problems and issues.
In this living lab project, specialized initiatives tailored to local issues were promoted, including ▲village brand and product development (2 locations) ▲improvement of local public facilities (1 location) ▲utilization of village public spaces (1 location), gaining positive responses from the community.
The achievements in solving local issues include ▲discovery of a village character reflecting the regional characteristics of Mudre Happy Village in Geumjeong-gu and development of low-carbon eco-friendly souvenirs using recycled coffee grounds ▲renewal of the village brand in Cheoljjuk Happy Village in Buk-gu, improvement of side dish packaging, and development of traditional sauce gift sets to revitalize the local economy and increase residents' income ▲fostering a home repair volunteer group in Mangmi Happy Village in Suyeong-gu, improving local children's centers, and enhancing living environments through small-scale home repair activities ▲creation of a mushroom cultivation space using idle space in the village hall of Mulmangol Happy Village in Yeonje-gu, promoting social activities for local residents and seniors through mushroom cultivation groups, and establishing a community cultural space.
