Arrest Warrant Issued for 'Martial Law Commander' Army Chief of Staff Park An-su
Park An-su, the Army Chief of Staff who was appointed as the Martial Law Commander during the December 3 emergency martial law situation, has been detained.

View original imageThe Special Investigation Headquarters for Emergency Martial Law of the Prosecutors' Office (headed by Park Se-hyun, Seoul High Prosecutors' Office Chief) announced on the 17th that an arrest warrant had been issued for General Park on charges including involvement in important duties related to rebellion.
The pre-arrest suspect interrogation (warrant hearing) for General Park was held on the same day at the Central Regional Military Court. It is reported that General Park waived the warrant hearing.
The Special Investigation Headquarters summoned General Park as a suspect on the 14th and the next day requested an arrest warrant on charges including involvement in important duties related to rebellion.

General Park was appointed as the Martial Law Commander following the declaration of emergency martial law on the 3rd. Subsequently, Martial Law Command Proclamation No. 1, which contained unconstitutional provisions such as banning political activities by the National Assembly, was also issued under General Park's name.
