SK Telecom Included in DJSI World Index Again This Year... Continuous Advancement in ESG Management
Including 16 Years Since 2008... The Only One in Korea
Top Approximately 10% Among Over 2,500 Companies
SK Telecom has been included in this year's Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) World Index. The DJSI World Index is a sustainability evaluation index announced annually by S&P Global, the world's largest financial information provider. It assesses the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management levels of global companies and serves as an important benchmark for investors by providing responsible investment criteria.
Since first being listed on the DJSI World Index in 2008, SKT has been included for a total of 16 years, except for 2020. This achievement is unique among domestic telecommunications companies and even more significant as only seven telecommunications companies worldwide are listed on the DJSI World Index.
The DJSI World Index includes only about the top 10% of over 2,500 evaluated companies worldwide. Among domestic companies, only around 20 have been included.
This year's inclusion in the DJSI World Index reflects various ESG management efforts, including ▲strengthening ESG governance centered on the board of directors ▲enhancing risk management processes ▲implementing double materiality assessments ▲advancing environmental management policies ▲expanding supply chain ESG programs ▲linking the effectiveness of employee development programs ▲establishing stakeholder communication policies ▲strengthening customer information management and enhancing disclosures.
The results of this year's DJSI evaluation are expected to be reflected in the S&P DJSI funds and related ESG index funds at the opening of the U.S. stock market on the 23rd.
