Gijang-gun Gijang Community Self-Support Center Achieves Tangible Results in Building Economic Independence for Low-Income Residents
Successfully Concluded the '2024 Jahwal Project Performance Report Meeting'
On the 13th, Busan Gijang-gun held the '2024 Self-Sufficiency Project Performance Report Meeting' at Dongbusan Lotte Cinema, organized by the Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center.
About 150 people attended the event, including County Governor Jeong Jong-bok, Park Hong-bok, Chairman of the Gijang County Council, residents participating in the self-sufficiency project, center staff, and participants from self-sufficiency enterprises.
The event featured a donation of neighbor aid funds by the self-sufficiency enterprise 'Uridongnae Laundry,' awards for outstanding participants in 2024, a report on the self-sufficiency project achievements, and a movie screening, providing an opportunity for participating residents and staff to share the year's project results and communicate together.
Notably, this year, the Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center achieved tangible results in establishing an economic independence foundation for low-income residents, including securing fixed sales through a service contract between the self-sufficiency enterprise Uridongnae Laundry and Busan Transportation Corporation; opening a new self-sufficiency workplace in Jeonggwan-eup supported by self-sufficiency funds; improving the center's training room environment; 21 participants obtaining professional certifications; and 2 young participants gaining employment.
Lee Seon-ju, Director of the Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, said, "Thanks to the efforts of participating residents and center staff throughout the year and the active support of Gijang-gun, we were able to achieve good results in the growth of the self-sufficiency project. We will continue to promote the independence of participating residents and lay the foundation for community development through systematic and sustainable support."
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, "I applaud the efforts and passion of the residents and center staff who achieved many results this year in the self-sufficiency project. We will spare no active support to ensure that the Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center becomes a hopeful workplace supporting new challenges and economic independence for participating residents."

The Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center is a specialized institution that helps local residents achieve self-sufficiency and independence by conducting self-sufficiency labor projects, youth independence challenge projects, asset formation support projects, gateway projects, and self-sufficiency enterprise support projects. Currently, about 130 people participate in 16 self-sufficiency labor project teams and 2 self-sufficiency enterprises.
