BOK to Hold "ASEAN+3 Economic Cooperation and Financial Stability Forum"
On the morning of the 16th, the Bank of Korea announced that it jointly hosted the ASEAN+3 Economic Cooperation and Financial Stability Forum with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the ASEAN+3 Macroeconomic Research Office (AMRO) at the Bank of Korea headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul.
This event is the representative forum of AMRO, the ASEAN+3 macroeconomic research organization, and was held in Korea this time following Singapore in 2022 and Kanazawa, Japan in 2023.
The forum featured presentations and discussions on macroeconomic trends and outlooks (short-term risks and policy directions) as well as long-term growth (pathways for sustainable development).
Attendees included Choi Sang-mok, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance, Lee Chang-yong, Governor of the Bank of Korea, Krishna Srinivasan, Director of the IMF Asia and Pacific Department, and Simon Johnson, 2024 Nobel Laureate in Economics and professor at MIT (participating virtually).

The Bank of Korea explained that Governor Lee would conclude his role as co-chair of ASEAN+3 by emphasizing the importance of regional economic and financial cooperation and exchanging views with participants. It also announced that from the 17th to the 18th, the ASEAN+3 Deputy Finance Ministers and Central Bank Deputy Governors Meeting would be held jointly with the government.
