Sim Gyu-eon, Donghae Mayor, Arrested on Bribery Charges
Partial Embezzlement Allegations in Daege Village Revitalization Fund
Sim Gyu-eon, mayor of Donghae, was arrested by the prosecution on charges of accepting bribes.
The Busan District Prosecutors' Office Eastern Branch announced on the 14th that Mayor Sim was detained on bribery charges.
Mayor Sim is accused of receiving a portion of the funds for revitalizing the Snow Crab Village, which were received by a Donghae city-affiliated organization from a company in 2021.
The prosecution conducted a search and seizure of key departments at Donghae City Hall last October and recently investigated related public officials as witnesses.

Mayor Sim denied the charges, stating, "I did not accept any bribes," but the court issued an arrest warrant requested by the prosecution.
