Paju City invested a total project cost of 5.8 billion KRW (entirely city funds) to expand a 600m section of City Road No. 33, starting construction in May and completing it two months ahead of the original schedule.
At the opening ceremony, Mayor Kim Kyung-il of Paju, the chairman of the Paju City Council, city council members, and local residents attended to celebrate the successful opening of the road.
Through this road expansion, not only will accessibility to the metropolitan and regional transportation networks improve, but it is also expected to have a positive impact on reducing logistics costs for nearby companies and revitalizing the local economy.
Mayor Kim Kyung-il emphasized in his congratulatory speech at the opening ceremony, “City Road No. 33 is an important axis connecting the northern Gyeonggi region and the Metropolitan Area 2nd Ring Expressway,” adding, “Through this road, the northern Paju area, including Beopwon-eup, will experience a new growth opportunity beyond transportation innovation.”
He continued, “Not only the section connecting Paju and Yangju but also the Paju~Gimpo section scheduled to open by the end of next year will bring about revolutionary changes in logistics and corporate attraction in this northern Paju area.”
