The Daegyeong Line, which will open on December 14, is a route starting from Gumi Station and passing through Sagok, Waegwan, Seodaegu, Daegu, Dongdaegu, and arriving at Gyeongsan, with a project cost of approximately 209.2 billion KRW.
The Daegyeong Line is the first metropolitan railway in the local area utilizing the spare capacity of the existing Gyeongbu Line tracks, operating a total of 61.85 km. The basic fare for the Daegyeong Line is 1,500 KRW with a transportation card, and an additional 100 KRW is charged for every 5 km beyond 10 km.
The main fares are △Gumi?Waegwan 1,700 KRW △Gumi?Dongdaegu 2,500 KRW △Gumi?Gyeongsan 2,800 KRW. The operating intervals are △19.2 minutes during rush hours △25.4 minutes during normal times, with △100 runs on weekdays and 96 runs on holidays. Additionally, nationwide compatible prepaid and postpaid transportation cards allow transfers within 30 minutes and use of up to three different transportation modes.
In Gumi, trains stop at two stations: Gumi Station and Sagok Station. The railway opening is expected to greatly improve transportation accessibility. Major tourist attractions near the stations include Geumosan Mountain, Geumridan-gil, the birthplace of President Park Chung-hee, the Saemaeul Movement Theme Park, and the Park Chung-hee Historical Museum, which are expected to boost visitor inflow and revitalize the local economy.
Local residents expressed their anticipation for the opening of the Daegyeong Line, welcoming the arrival of a new era in transportation. Businesses are also expected to enjoy practical benefits such as reduced logistics costs and expanded opportunities for exchange.
