Mirae Asset Management, 'Our Child Economic Classroom' 2000th Session... "Expanded to Include Children with Migration Backgrounds"
Mirae Asset Global Investments announced on the 13th that it will expand the operation of the "Our Kids Economic Class," which has been ongoing for 14 years as part of its social contribution activities, to include children with migrant backgrounds and their families.
"Our Kids Economic Class" is a program where children and adolescents learn about economics and finance easily and enjoyably through play and hands-on experiences at public libraries, family centers, and other locations nationwide. Since the first session in 2010, a total of 2,000 classes have been conducted by the end of November. A total of 81,169 participants from across the country have joined.
To mark the 2,000th session of "Our Kids Economic Class," Mirae Asset Global Investments decided to expand the target participants to include children with migrant backgrounds and their families. Children with migrant backgrounds refer to those who have migration experience themselves or whose parents do, including children from multicultural families, foreign worker families, children who immigrated mid-way, and children of North Korean defectors born in third countries.
At the economic class held at the migrant support center "Paju EXODUS," operated by the Catholic Diocese of Uijeongbu's Migration Pastoral Committee, an official said, "We had been concerned about how to start economic education for the children," adding, "The children showed great interest in this new form of economic and financial education using drones, coding, and other tools."
Eunmi Oh, team leader of the Investment and Pension Center at Mirae Asset Global Investments, said, "We have expanded the education target to include children with migrant backgrounds and others in our society who need economic and financial education," and added, "Mirae Asset Global Investments will continue to strive to help children and adolescents become familiar with economics and finance."
Meanwhile, Mirae Asset Global Investments conducts various experiential programs such as financial education for youth and child fund investors in addition to "Our Kids Economic Class."
