Chinese Influencer Who Claimed to Deliver Food to Raise Young Daughter... The Truth Is All Fake
Chinese Influencer Introduced as 'Single Daddy'
Fake Story Exposed, Ultimately Punished
A Chinese influencer introduced himself as a single dad and claimed to work as a delivery driver to raise his young daughter, but this story was revealed to be false, and he was arrested by the police.
On the 11th (local time), according to the Hong Kong South China Morning Post (SCMP), a Chinese influencer named A, who has over 400,000 followers, posted videos introducing himself as a "single dad" raising a daughter named "Qianyi." A said he had to do a lot of deliveries to feed his daughter delicious food, and all the videos prominently displayed the phrase "She (Qianyi) has no mother." He claimed that Qianyi's mother abandoned them, so he was raising the child alone.
He especially tried to evoke sympathy from netizens by delivering with his daughter, saying, "I handled 43 orders and earned 300 yuan (about 60,000 won) a day to buy delicious food for my child." He also asked netizens to "like" his videos and mentioned that he accidentally hurt his daughter's face while working.
As A's heartbreaking story spread, he gathered more than 400,000 followers on social media platforms Douyin and Kuaishou. He produced over 100 videos and earned income through live streaming under the pretext of supporting his daughter's livelihood.
However, on the 3rd, local police revealed that A was neither a delivery worker nor a single dad. It was found that A was not raising Qianyi alone, and Qianyi's mother, who is also his wife, was living with them. The delivery uniform A wore in the videos was also purchased online. It appears that A engaged in this behavior to increase his subscriber count and video views.

The police stated that A was punished for disturbing public order. However, specific details of the punishment were not disclosed. According to Chinese public security punishment laws, spreading rumors to deliberately disrupt social order can result in detention for up to 10 days and a fine of 500 yuan (about 100,000 won). A is reported to have admitted to the police that he fabricated the story to increase his follower count and video views.
