Gwangyang-si Recognized as an 'Excellent Local Government' in Child Policy Evaluation Hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare

Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 9th that it achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as an excellent local government for three consecutive years by receiving the Minister of Health and Welfare Award in the 2024 Child Policy Impact Assessment.
On the 6th, at the ‘12th Child Policy Forum 2024’ held at Myeongdong Royal Hotel Seoul, an awards ceremony was held for excellent local governments in the evaluation of the 2023 Child Policy Implementation Plan and the 2024 Child Policy Impact Assessment self-evaluation.

View original imageThe Child Policy Impact Assessment is a system in which local governments independently inspect and evaluate the positive and negative impacts of various laws, plans, and projects directly or indirectly related to children and children’s rights, and reflect the results in policy establishment. This year, 211 local governments nationwide participated in the evaluation.
Under the vision of “Dreaming Children, Nurturing Gwangyang, Happy Citizens,” Gwangyang City, which is creating a child-friendly city where children are respected and happy, conducted a self-evaluation on the four basic rights of children and received high evaluations in quantitative and qualitative indicators such as proactiveness, thoroughness, and appropriateness of implementation.
Gwangyang City was the only local government in Jeollanam-do and Gwangju to receive the Minister’s Commendation in the evaluation hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and organized by the Child Rights Protection Agency.
The city was also selected as an excellent local government in the Child Policy Impact Assessment in 2022 and 2023, receiving the Child Rights Protection Agency Award and the Minister of Health and Welfare Award respectively, and with this award, it became the first in Jeollanam-do to be selected as an excellent local government for three consecutive years.
