Democrats to Submit Impeachment Motion Against President Yoon Again... Vote on 14th
'Naeran Special Prosecutor Act', 'Kim Geon-hee First Lady Special Prosecutor Act' Proposed on the 9th
The Democratic Party of Korea announced that it will reintroduce the impeachment motion against President Yoon Seok-yeol and put it to a vote on the 14th.
On the 8th, Kang Yoo-jung, the party's floor spokesperson, told reporters after a party meeting at the National Assembly in Yeouido, Seoul, "The impeachment motion against President Yoon will be reported to the plenary session on the 12th and voted on the 14th."
Spokesperson Kang added, "The push for President Yoon's impeachment will continue on the schedule of 'Thursdays and Saturdays.'"
Previously, the National Assembly attempted to vote on the impeachment motion against President Yoon the day before, but the ruling party, which had set opposition to impeachment as its official stance, collectively walked out of the plenary session, causing the vote to fail.
The Democratic Party also decided to proceed with additional impeachment motions against Cabinet members related to the 'martial law emergency situation.' Spokesperson Kang stated, "The impeachment motions against Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae and Commissioner General of the National Police Agency Cho Ji-ho will be reported to the plenary session on the 10th and voted on the 12th."
Additionally, the Democratic Party plans to introduce the 'Special Investigation Act on Treason' to investigate charges of treason related to this incident, as well as the fourth 'Special Investigation Act on First Lady Kim Geon-hee,' on the 9th. Spokesperson Kang said, "If both special investigation acts are processed quickly, they can be handled at the plenary session on the 12th."
