Former Defense Minister Suspected of Leading Martial Law
The police have launched a forced investigation into former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, who was identified as the leader of the 'December 3 Emergency Martial Law Incident.'
On the morning of the 8th, the National Police Agency's National Investigation Headquarters announced that a dedicated investigation team related to the emergency martial law is conducting a search and seizure at former Minister Kim's official residence and the office of the Minister of National Defense.
Earlier, the prosecution arrested former Minister Kim and confiscated his mobile phone, and it appears that the police are also accelerating efforts to secure evidence to prove the charges.
Former Minister Kim stated, "I will actively cooperate with the investigation into the public's suspicions," and voluntarily appeared at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office around 1:30 a.m. on the 8th for questioning. The Prosecution's Special Investigation Headquarters on Emergency Martial Law later announced around 8 a.m., about six hours later, that "former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun was urgently arrested and his mobile phone was confiscated."
