Busan Gijang-gun Implements Public Housing 'Suicide Prevention Sticker Attachment Project'
Gijang-gun and Public Housing Cooperation, Enhancing Suicide Risk Environment Improvement and Monitoring
Busan Gijang-gun recently launched the ‘Suicide Prevention Support Institution Sticker Attachment Project’ targeting public housing to improve suicide risk environments.
This project was established to prevent falls and suicides within public housing and is being promoted in collaboration with Jeonggwan Humansia 1·2 Complex and LH 7 Complex, which are participating institutions in the ‘Gijang Life Respect Safe Village with Residents’ initiative.
The Gijang-gun Mental Health Welfare Center has signed a business agreement with Jeonggwan Humansia 1·2 Complex and LH 7 Complex since 2020 and has been conducting various suicide prevention activities.
For apartment management office staff and residents, the center provides ▲ Life Keeper training ▲ Mental health screening and counseling ▲ Identification and connection of high-risk groups for depression and suicide ▲ Promotion of the suicide prevention counseling hotline 109 ▲ and Mental Health Committee activities.
The current ‘Suicide Prevention Sticker Attachment Project’ involves attaching suicide prevention stickers to the rooftop access doors of the public housing complexes. The magnetic stickers include information about support institutions such as the suicide prevention counseling hotline 109, enabling residents in crisis to request counseling.
After attaching the stickers, the county plans to establish a close cooperative system with the management offices to conduct continuous monitoring.
County Governor Jeong Jong-bok stated, “Through active public-private cooperation, we will create a safe Gijang-gun where people in crisis can receive help anytime.”
